SLO 502 Identity, Development and Existential Crises in Sport

Faculty: Dr. Klemen Kobal (Profile)

ABOUT THE COURSE

The course explores the development of an athlete’s identity through an existential – developmental perspective – from childhood to the end of their career. It focuses on issues of freedom, responsibility and authenticity in an environment where success often determines a sense of self-worth. It addresses existential crises that arise in the event of injury, loss of role or the end of a career, and teaches how a therapist, using a logotherapeutic and narrative approach, helps an athlete reconstruct meaning and integrate their life story.
