SLO 506 Meaning, Motivation and Psychological Resilience

Faculty: Dr. Klemen Kobal (Profile)

ABOUT THE COURSE

The course explores meaning as a central source of internal motivation and psychological resilience in elite sport. Students learn the difference between the will to succeed, external
rewards and Frankl’s “will to meaning”, which enables persistence even in crisis, defeat or burnout. Existential emptiness, loss of motivation and the phenomenon of “vacuum after success” are discussed. The emphasis is on logotherapeutic dialogue, values and approaches that restore the athlete’s autonomy, internal compass and ability to transform suffering into growth. The course develops models of existential resilience that humanize the experience of
sport and support the athlete’s integrity.
