Valid (c. 1061) marriage (c. 1055) is a Sacrament (c. 840). The Church is concerned with the protection of Sacraments, and surrounds the Sacrament with laws for that protection (c. 1059). The Church is a party to the matrimonial trial to make sure that the Sacrament of Marriage is defended (c. 1060).
