TSC 524 Tribunal Penal Trials

Faculty: Rev. Jude Onogbosele, J.C.D. (Profile)

ABOUT THE COURSE

Penal law must exist in a legal system to enforce legislation. The exercise of Catholic penal law is limited by imputability and the hope of reform. Some penalties are latae sententiae (automatic). Other penalities are by decree. Still other penalties are imposed ferendae sententiae (by the judge); and special norms have been legislated for pedophiles. The ultimate goal of this tutorial is to understand the Code of Canon Law penal process, and the special issues of the penal trial of the pedophile cleric.
