This PRIME relationship allows a student to complete partial coursework requirements for the M.P.C. degree, D.Min. degree, the Ph.D. degree, or the D.S.M degree at The West Virginia Institute for Spirituality. The West Virginia Institute for Spirituality (WVIS) is dedicated to providing space and opportunities for deepening mindfulness, prayer practice, interior peace, and integrating moral and ethical values. 
 
Master of Pastoral Counseling
  • The Associate Certificate in Spiritual Direction (18-month program) with the B.A. prerequisite is recognized in fulfillment of six Units of Study toward the GTF’s MPC degree.
  • The 4-day 19th Annotation Intensive Workshop is recognized in fulfillment of one Unit of Study toward the MPC degree.
  • The one-year Certificate in Spiritual Direction Supervision is recognized in fulfillment of three Units of Study toward the MPC degree.
  • The WVIS 4 credit course on Interracial, intercultural spiritual direction, and any 4 credit stand-alone course, will be recognized in fulfillment of one Unit of Study toward the MPC degree.
Applicants should meet GTF prerequisites for admission to the M.P.C. degree:  bachelor’s degree plus 5 years involvement in a faith community/ministry.
 
Doctor of Ministry

  • The 4-day 19th Annotation Intensive Workshop is recognized in fulfillment of one Unit of Study toward the D.S.M degree.
  • The one-year Certificate in Spiritual Direction Supervision is recognized in fulfillment of three Units of Study toward the D.S.M degree.
  • The WVIS 4 credit course on Interracial, intercultural spiritual direction, and any 4 credit stand-alone course, will be recognized in fulfillment of one Unit of Study toward the D.S.M. degree.

Applicants should meet GTF prerequisites for admission to the D.S.M. degree: 

  1. Baccalaureate degree or equivalent in some area of music validated by a transcript.
  2. Master’s degree in sacred music or other area of music, validated by a transcript.
  3. Five years of accumulated experience in music ministry.
 
Tuitions
  • Master of Pastoral Counseling in Spiritual Direction (M.P.C.)            $18,020
  • Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Direction (D.Min.)                            $22,700
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)                                                        $25,170
  • Doctor of Sacred Music (D.S.M)                                                    $22,700
*NOTE:  Cost of the D.Min. and Ph.D. may be reduced by up to $4,800 by using WVIS credit ($600 per Unit of Study fulfilled by transfer credit).  This would allow for a maximum reduction of the D.Min. tuition to $13,740 and a reduction to $16,215 for the Ph.D. (tuition reduction based on using WVIS credit to fulfill eight of ten Units of Study). The cost of the MPC could be reduced by up to $3,600 which would allow a maximum reduction of the MPC tuition to $11,645. 
Tuition reflects course and administrative degree program costs charged by the GTF.  Program costs charged by the PRIME institution are separate and additional and must be paid directly to the PRIME institution.

NOTE:  Students of WVIS who have completed more than one certificate or course through WVIS can combine credits to fulfill coursework requirements for either the D.Min. or Ph.D. up to eight of ten required Units of Study (this way all WVIS students complete a minimum of two GTF courses plus project/thesis).
 
NOTE:  Students applying to WVIS and GTF must meet the admissions prerequisites of both institutions.
