SLO 508 Interdisciplinary Medicine in Sports Psychotherapy

Faculty: Dr. Klemen Kobal (Profile)

ABOUT THE COURSE

The course examines the holistic connection between physical, psychological and spiritual processes in sports and trains the student to collaborate with medical professionals in a complex
interdisciplinary environment. Special emphasis is placed on understanding how physiology, injuries, hormonal regulation, stress and medical interventions affect the psychological
experience, motivation and identity of the athlete. The student learns to distinguish between the role of the therapist and the role of the doctor and develops competencies for ethical,
professional and communicative cooperation in the health team. The course integrates the logotherapeutic view of the body as part of the human whole and strengthens the therapist’s ability to recognize physical pain or illness as an existential break and an opportunity for meaningful growth. The goal is to form the competence to “bridge” between medicine and psychotherapy – not as a technical assistant, but as a human and dialogical partner in the rehabilitation process.
