Janel Kragt Bakker, Ph.D. Professor of Religion and Culture
Janel Kragt Bakker is an Assistant Dean for Academic Advising in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia. Previously, she served as Professor of Mission and Culture at Memphis Theological Seminary and Associate Director of the Collegeville Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research. She holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Religion and Culture from the Catholic University of America, and she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Religious Practices and Practical Theology at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Her current research focuses on efforts to reckon with colonial legacies among western Christians.
