The following guidelines apply to papers which students of the Graduate Theological Foundation produce during the course of their academic study. Details on content, word count, and page count are indicated within the descriptions of individual degrees.
The writing style followed should be consistent throughout each paper. The most commonly used styles are Turabian, MLA and APA, but other known and universally recognized styles can be used in the formatting of the paper as long as there is one consistent style employed throughout.
While professional copyediting is not required, it is recommended for final projects, masters and doctoral theses and doctoral projects. For more information regarding copyediting, recommended copyeditors, etc., please contact our offices.
Spacing, Margins and Font
The paper should be double-spaced with one-inch margins at the top, bottom, and on the left and right. The font should be no larger than 12 points; Times New Roman is preferred, but not required.
Research & Writing – When engaging in research and writing, an important principle to follow is consistency in bibliographic style. As long as consistency is maintained, there is no single reference system required by the GTF, however APA is both recommended and preferred. In the writing of Doctoral Theses, Doctoral Projects, Master’s Theses, and Master’s Projects, the GTF recommends the use of the following style guide:
