Becoming Whole: Process-Relational Spiritualities

Faculty: Ann Kline, BCC (Profile)

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course explores process-relational spirituality as a path toward greater wholeness in a world marked by fragmentation, disconnection, and competing claims upon our attention. Drawing on Christian and transreligious resources, students will examine understandings of reality that emphasize relationship, becoming, creativity, and the deep interconnection of cosmos, psyche, and spirit. Particular attention will be given to the role of symbol, dreams, imagination, spiritual experience, contemplative presence, and sacramental awareness in processes of integration and transformation. The course will also explore how process-relational perspectives can illuminate questions of suffering, faith, cosmology, and life in a consumer-oriented culture. Through weekly critical reflection, individual conversation with the professor, and a final integrative essay, students will engage the course texts as conversation partners while developing their own understanding of spiritual transformation and considering what it might mean to live from an integrated and spiritually grounded center.
